The beginnings of my soap business started almost a year ago. It all started with my looking around for suitable soap for myself as I have problems with eczema and commercial soaps aren’t always suitable for me. So I searched the web to see if I could find a simple soap base that I could use for myself, this led into my looking around to see if there were any courses on line that taught you how to make soap, then I found the ‘College of Integrated Therapies’ who ran a course on soap making and selling and that was it. It was a really good course and I enjoyed it immensely.

I currently do a range of 8 glycerine based soaps which are lavender, fresh rose, lemon zest and tea tree, all clear soap base. Evening primrose oil, rosehip oil (which have no aroma just luxury oils) and lavender, these three are all opaque base, and I also do a 2 tone lavender in both clear and opaque bases, this is made into a log with varying designs.

I have also designed a ‘scrubbie’ which is a sponge impregnated with soap which is great for using after gardening or messy jobs as it is better than a brush and does not have any harsh abrasives in. I currently have design rights pending on the product.

I have now been able to secure a small stall in ‘Bygone Times’ in Chorley. If anyone would like to go along and see what’s on offer, it’s in the basement, stall 316 tucked away in the corner by the arcade.

All my soaps come with full certification from Advantis Labs in Horesham and I have full product and public liability insurance
